Confuciusornis sanctus

Jørn Hurum at NHM in Oslo asked us to make a model of a Confuciusornis sanctus.
As we get more and more requests to make “stuffed birds” without using feathers from real birds we had been discussing how to achieve a naturalistic looking bird model. This model was sculpted digitally by 10 Tons' master sculptor Dmytro Teslenco. We dressed a body core with 12 mm. flocking to mimic the plumage - when embedded in resin. This first attempt of "vegan taxidermy" came out exactly like we hoped for, thanks to 10 Tons' lab-wizard Rasmus Frederiksens magic casting techniques.
